Not sure how I missed this until now, but today is Friday the 13th. First of all I do not know why anyone would say a Friday is unlucky, it’s Friday! Even if you were having the worst day possible, at least it was still Friday. Monday the 13th sounds a lot scarier if you ask me. Well…tonight is Bingo night and no Friday Bingo night can be bad, so Happy Friday the 13th!

The delicate sound of a camera shutter penetrates the silence with menace in a rugged, isolated, wooded area where a small plane has crashed. It’s not possible that in this place, at this time, someone could be hidden from sight, photographing the scene. Or is it?
Tess Kincaid is a modest, reserved professional golfer who is finally coming into her own. The success that propels her into the national spotlight has put her in the cross hairs of a disturbed photographer, and his laser-focused path to her is twisted and full of suspense. In this lightning-fast tale of intrigue with a dark underpinning, she is forced to confront a terrifying accident and a sinister threat lurking out of sight, yet in the range of a telephoto lens.

Clémentine’s Uncommon Scents
Jocelyne Lebon
(9 Reviews)
Genre: Contemporary Fiction | Literary Fiction
FREE for a limited time
Have you ever been hijacked? By your nose, that is? Have you ever been, at a mere whiff, snatched and catapulted into a time of remembered bliss? Or remembered grief? What if your nose was a veritable time machine transporting and immersing you, mind, body and soul into a past long gone yet as exquisitely vivid as the present?
On the surface, there is nothing remarkable about Clémentine’s nose: it has only two nostrils and sits roughly in the middle of her face. Yet when it is discovered that the six-year old has in fact the nose of a bloodhound, it soon converts her into a force to be reckoned with in the small hamlet where she is growing up. Is she angel or beast? Her bizarre attribute garners her praise but also subjects her to taunts and insults, until a searing humiliation brings her ambivalence to a tipping point, and upon reaching puberty she makes a decision which will change the course of her life by a few latitudes. How she handles and resolves her strong ambivalence is developed in this olfactory odyssey, a sensuous tale with comedy, drama, and romance, drenched in fragrant magic realism.
