When it was time to go yesterday we told the kids we were testing out the new DVD players in the car. The kids were more than happy to help us out. Then we picked up grandma, and told the kids she was going on vacation and we were dropping her off at her vacation spot. They were more than happy to go along for the ride. We dropped hints the entire 7 hour drive about Disneyland, but they just weren’t picking up on it, so we decided to be blunt when we hit L.A. That’s when the cheering and screaming began.

But if they’re right – if it was murder, not suicide, then whoever did the killing must be highly skilled and highly motivated – exactly the type of someone who would not appreciate being investigated. And, if that someone had already killed once, they’d have no trouble killing again to prevent Logan from uncovering the truth.

Single mom of three, Sierra Montgomery is desperate to find a new job to keep from having to move back home and be smothered to death by her mother’s good intentions and overbearing love. So when Sierra inherits Chance, a quirky old gelding she doesn’t have a clue what to do with, she thinks her best bet may be to sell the horse to cover another month’s rent-a decision that devastates her children.
Enter Ross Morgan, a handsome landscaper who just happens to have an empty barn and fenced pasture, perfect for an old horse to live out his days as the pet of three wounded kids. Ross develops a soft spot for eldest child Braden and he just might have one for Braden’s mother. But what he doesn’t have is time for distractions-he’s got a landscaping business to run and nursery plants to tend.

Peppino: A Nineteenth Century Medici
Seth Coleman
(12 Reviews)
Genre: Coming of Age
FREE for a limited time
Seth Coleman’s Peppino introduces readers to a young Italian boy who is destined for greatness but first must overcome grave obstacles in order to fulfill his potential. Born in nineteenth-century southern Italy, Peppino is the son of the baroness of Bologna. A member of the famous Medici family, one of the most prominent families in European history, the baroness expects her son to claim his role of baron and accept his rightful place among the aristocracy. However, the precocious Peppino rebels against his upper-class position, setting off on his own to fight for the common people. Joining Peppino in the struggle are Nicola, a devout Christian peasant, and Abramo, a Hassidic Jew. Together all three risk their lives in order to lead a rebellion against the injustices of the Church and—more specifically—the local monsignor, who has evil ambitions of his own. Pope Leo XIII is another warrior in the fight for the people’s rights. He had successfully fought off the mafia’s stranglehold on the country and as Pope worked tirelessly against class injustices. With his niece set to marry Peppino, the novel offers a unique glimpse into the personal life of an often solitary figure, whom millions adore but only a handful really know. Ultimately a story of good versus evil, religion versus God, and hypocrisy versus righteousness, Peppino examines history through the lens of the personal. Through his novel, Coleman offers readers a human story with breathtaking scope.
