I had the best dream last night. It was so good I woke up laughing. I was in a Lego Land. Everything and everyone was made of Legos. Everyone was was running around building things and changing their heads and bodies. Okay, that last part sounded kinda freaky, but it wasn’t. I guess you just had to be there. I didn’t even mind when the Simpson minifigures came on the scene. Their heads aren’t shaped light regular Lego heads, so I feel like they aren’t true Legos. More like distant cousins.

Does size really matter? Two women spin a tale of comedy and new beginnings after they wake up and find themselves in a jail cell over 3000 miles away from home. Rehashing their adventure in front of a less-than-sympathetic judge, they give a laugh-out-loud and extremely detailed story of a road trip that finds them in a ton of trouble. Battling age, weight, and their own personal demons, not only do they discover the open road and a life they misplaced somewhere in their 20s, they also find themselves. From breakups and stealing cars to blurry memories of something that might have happened in New Mexico, these two women will take you on a real journey, full of fun and, well, situations that people only write about and never really do… or do they?

Lucy Lipiner
(367 Reviews)
Genre: Biographies & Memoirs | History
FREE for a limited time
The summer of 1939 turned out to be the last summer of author Lucy Lipiner’s childhood. On September 1, when she was six years old, her parents roused her and her older sister from their beds and, with other relatives in tow, left their town of Sucha, home to 780 Jewish people. It was a decision carefully planned and carried out by the author’s father which resulted in saving the lives of fifteen people. But the journey of survival was not an easy one, and in Long Journey Home A Young Girl’s Memoir of Surviving the Holocaust, from the perspective of that little girl, Lipiner narrates her family’s story. She tells of an odyssey of escape and rescue full of hardships and tribulation. From her sheltered life in a picturesque small town at the foothills of the Tatra Mountains to her time as a barefoot and hungry little girl in Siberia and Tajikistan in central Asia, and finally her arrival in America, this memoir shares the emotional details and the physical struggles of a ten-year flight to freedom. A story of resilience, Long Journey Home A Young Girl’s Memoir of Surviving the Holocaust provides a detailed, historical account of a little-known and rarely discussed group of Holocaust survivors.
