We got a little break from the cold and rain yesterday and I did something I have been wanting to do for a long time. I torn down the chicken run. When hubby first built that run five or so years ago, it was for Jackie, Heather, Summer, and little Naughty. The coop they had was much smaller, and didn’t have a place underneath to scratch the earth and search for bugs. So hubby built the run to give them a safe place to feel the earth on their toes and not be threatened by hawks. The run was only about four feet high, so when I had to clean it, I was hunched over and it was backbreaking work. Plus with all the use over the years it had developed a mud pit when it rained. Very unhealthy for the ladies. It just wasn’t working anymore. So yesterday I torn it down. I feel like I got half my yard back. The ladies were very curious the whole time and were questioning me every step of the way. Incredible how they love to be right underfoot when I am trying to work in the yard. When you have chickens, you are never alone in the garden. This morning I went out to let the ladies out into the yard, and now comes the fun part. Designing a new run for them!

Lord Peter Wimsey spends his days tracking down rare books, and his nights hunting killers. Though the Great War has left his nerves frayed with shellshock, Wimsey continues to be London’s greatest sleuth — and he’s about to encounter his oddest case yet.
A strange corpse has appeared in a suburban architect’s bathroom, stark naked save for an incongruous pince-nez. When Wimsey arrives on the scene, he is confronted with a once-in-a-lifetime puzzle. The police suspect that the bathtub’s owner is the murderer, but Wimsey’s investigation quickly reveals that the case is much stranger than anyone could have predicted.

Suddenly, I was a bachelor in an unfamiliar town with a money pit of a house, a truck that wouldn’t run, and a new job. Yet, all could think about was Mutt, or at least that’s what they called her.
To me, she was gorgeous and witty… and perfect. She knew more duty than desire, more perseverance than passion, and more acquaintance than affection, but here was no way I’d ever want to change her. In fact, I was dying to show her the life she’d been missing, but first she’d have to trust me enough to tell me her real name.
I wanted to plant roots, but I refused to clip her wings. Not when she was everything I’d been looking for and all the home I’d ever need.
