My poor old pup Jethro is having a hard time these days. He seems lost all the time and moving around is getting so hard for him. The sweet thing is when he sees Junebug, you can see him focus and try harder. He might have to try harder because she is all up in his face and he has to stand up nice and tall to get his face out of her reach. The fact that my grumpy old man doesn’t snap at her, despite how annoying she can be, must mean that he actually really likes her. Sinny has benefited from having Junebug around as well. He seems to have shed a few pounds from playing with her so much. I don’t know how much longer we will have Jethro around for, but I couldn’t be happier that Junebug has been such a special gift to him these past few months.

And he thinks that if he doesn’t rock the boat, then they will never have a reason to break in his door and disappear him, like they did to his brother.
But when a Chinese captain is kidnapped by resistance members, Walter is suddenly thrust into a fight he never wanted. A fight where there are many sides, but very few allies. by Violet Duke
(190 Reviews)
Genre: Literature & Fiction | Literary Fiction | Women’s Fiction | Romance

Fiercely independent single mom Quinn Christiansen likes already being known in town for having a heart too hard for any man to break, courtesy of her deadbeat ex who left her with a mountain of his gambling debts to pay off, on top of the pediatric hospital bills her son had required from birth. So when she finally meets the lone man in Cactus Creek inexplicably undaunted by her ball-busting tendencies, Quinn has absolutely no idea what to do with him. Not only is he ridiculously handsome, and surprisingly sweet under his gruff and gritty exterior, he’s also clearly determined to invade her life.
Rylan Grey isn’t used to getting a woman so worked up. Well, not in a bad way, at least. And yet somehow, his mere existence seems to annoy the guarded and gorgeous Quinn to no end. Sure, he’s made some gambles to get to where he’s at, but they were all of the life variety, with risks as important as the rewards, fate betting as the house, and most importantly, not a single dollar in play. Though Rylan has never wagered anything he’s not willing to lose — namely his heart — once he sees past Quinn’s icy defenses, he’s more than ready to ante up… for what’s bound to be his riskiest gamble yet.

Genre: Politics & Social Sciences | Travel | Teen & Young Adult
FREE for a limited time
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to drive for Uber? Have you ever been curious as to what kind of people use Uber? Where they are going? What do they talk about during the ride? How do they behave, or misbehave?
This is the book to read!
Jessie Newburn’s “Uber Chronicles: Field Notes from the Front Seat,” the first in a series, answers those questions and more… in the form of storytelling.
Driving for Uber since early 2016, Jessie chronicles her experiences with each–and every–passenger, from the conversations with interesting people with fascinating stories, to the incredibly everyday, ho-hum-ness of people who just need a ride from one place to another.
But don’t let the ho-hum-ness of the ride fool you.
As Gabe Karpati, one of her earlier readers, says, “There is a relaxing magical quality to the way she writes these stories. A sweet quiet zen silence that is shining through every line. Jessie presents these encounters like a meditation, where the seer observes but doesn’t get entangled.”
Ten different days and nights out driving for Uber.
Fifty-six passengers.
Fifty-six stories.
So, come along for the ride. Join in. Listen in. And experience what Uber is like from the front seat of the car.

Cheese cookbook: 30 recipes
by Nik Holt
(40 Reviews)
Genre: Cookbooks, Food & Wine | Nonfiction
FREE for a limited time
Traditionally, cheese happens to be a dairy product that is gotten from sheep, goat or cow milk. This is not a good one for vegans. Luckily for us, we can now come up with varieties of vegan cheeses that are free of enzymes, animal-based and that are also dairy-free. These vegan cheeses are delicious and sufficiently good enough to make even the most dedicated milk cheese lover satisfied. Regular cheese is made from milk protein that is gotten from buffalo, sheep, goats, cows etc. this milk protein is called “casein”.
The addition of animal based enzymes (known as rennet) is created in the stomachs of these animals into the milk causes the milk to curdle (known as coagulation), and cheese if produced. There are other ways to make dairy cheese, but this is a generally accepted way of making dairy-cheeses of various forms, textures and flavors. On the flip side, vegan cheese involves fusing lactic bacteria with an assortment of plant protein mass. Thickeners, emulsifiers and oils can also be added to make more solid vegan cheese types. Vegan cheese can be made from different ingredients: pea protein, arrowroot, assorted bacterial cultures, vegetable glycerin, natural enzymes, tapioca flour, nuts (for example almonds, macadamias and cashews), thickening agar flakes, nutritional yeast, solidified vegetable oil (including safflower, palm or coconut), and soy protein (which is used in rubbery, slick and shiny varieties.
The major similarity of vegan cheese and regular cheese is the consolidated milk protein used in the making of regular cheese. Regular cheese goes through so much process where the proteins substantially join together and many textures and flavors are gotten as the cheeses begins to age. Today, many vegan cheese-makers are starting to employ some bacterial and aging process that gives vegan cheeses a unique, satisfying and flavor-filled taste; with these processes, there are many vegan cheeses that rival the texture, flavor and taste of regular cheeses.
