Fifty degrees last night!! The weather has gone from 39 at night to 50 degrees. So is it Spring now? Can I finish planting all the cute little plants that I have been hiding from hubby in the greenhouse? I might have a couple of plants I haven’t told him about yet. He really only goes out into the backyard on the weekends, so it’s pretty easy to tell him that isn’t a new plant, just a bulb from last year. I suspect he knows I am lying though, because citrus trees aren’t bulbs. I think our marriage works well because he knows I cant help but lie about certain things, so it’s not really a lie. The mass amounts of pumpkins that I didn’t buy all month long in October. The candy I didn’t steal from the baby bassets all holiday season long. And in the Spring, I didn’t buy all those cute little plants. Nope… not a one. They are all bulbs from last year.

The only witness has paws…

After several years in the military, Kirby Jackson just moved back to his coastal hometown to open up his dream coffee shop. But his best friend and co-owner, Ryan, just had to add his own flair: comic books.

And the business isn’t off to a good start. The coffee is fine. With the comics floundering and sinking Kapow Koffee into debt, Kirby has to make a tough decision.

On the cusp of telling Ryan the grim news, he finds his friend with a knife in his back.

Of course Kirby becomes suspect number one. Perhaps things wouldn’t look so bad had he not been planning to metaphorically stab Ryan in the back, cutting him out of the business.

The shop’s mascot, a stubborn dachshund named Gambit, might hold the keys to solving the case. But he ain’t talking. His woofs are only for treats… Or are they?

Can Kirby prove his innocence?
Can he and Gambit make friends?
And can the not-so-dynamic duo solve the case before the killer strikes again?

Curious crimes, engaging characters, and a lovable dachshund. Marvels, Mochas, and Murder is perfect for all dog lovers, some comic book fans, and cozy readers alike. With a male sleuth and canine partner, it’s reminiscent of The Cat Who, but set in a quaint modern-day Coastal Florida town.

Indian Hill is about an ordinary boy who grows up in relatively normal times but who finds himself thrust into an extraordinary position. Growing up in suburban Boston, Michael enjoys the trials and tribulations that all adolescents go through, from the seemingly tyrannical mother, to girl problems, to run-ins with the law. From there he escapes to college out in Colorado with his best friend, Paul, where they begin to forge new relationships with those around them. It is one girl in particular that has caught Michael’s eye, and he alternately pines for her and laments ever meeting her.

It is on their true “first” date that things go strangely askew. This is where the story truly takes a paranormal twist. Mike soon finds himself captive aboard an alien vessel, fighting for his very survival. The aliens have devised gladiator-type games. The games are of two-fold importance for the aliens: one is their entertainment value, and the other is that the aliens want to see how combative humans are, what our weaknesses and strengths are. They want to better learn how to attack and defeat us. The battles are to the death on varying terrains that are computer-generated.

Follow Mike and Paul as they battle for their lives and try to keep the U.S. safe, in the first book of Mark Tufo’s Indian Hill series.

Featured in this book are authentic Italian recipes selected for taste and economy. Originally published after the Great War (World War I), its purpose was to provide directions for preparation of quality Italian meals during those times when keeping costs down and nutrition high are primary concerns. As stated in the Preface: “One of the beneficial results of the Great War has been the teaching of thrift to the American housewife. For patriotic reasons and for reasons of economy, more attention has been bestowed upon the preparing and cooking of food that is to be at once palatable, nourishing and economical. “In the Italian cuisine we find in the highest degree these three qualities. That it is palatable, all those who have partaken of food in an Italian trattoria or at the home of an Italian family can testify, that it is healthy the splendid manhood and womanhood of Italy is a proof more than sufficient. And who could deny, knowing the thriftiness of the Italian race, that it is economical? “It has therefore been thought that a book of practical recipes of the italian cuisine could be offered to the American public with hope of success. It is not a pretentious book, and the recipes have been made as clear and simple as possible. Some of the dishes described are not peculiar to Italy. All, however, are representative of the Cucina Casalinga of the peninsular Kingdom, which is not the least product of a lovable and simple people, among whom the art of living well and getting the most out of life at a moderate expense has been attained to a very high degree.” Modern nutritionists have made us aware of the health benefits of traditional Mediterranean cuisine. This volume provides easy-to-follow directions for over 200 delicious menu items.
