Is it time to put out the Halloween decorations yet??? Some of my neighbors have started, so I am getting antsy to start as well. I did cheat a little and put a little witches hat on a ceramic bunny I have in the living room. The bunny is more of an Easter decoration, but I really really like him, so the workaround is the witch hat. BOOM!! Halloween Bunny. That’s where it starts though. A little witches hat here, a pumpkin there, then the flood gates open and Halloween has barfed all over the inside and outside of the house. I am going to try and have a little self control until October first, but we all know how good I am at self control.

The ideal lady wears lace, speaks quietly, and never — under any circumstances — fixes an automobile. But Gwyn Ruthers has never cared two snaps about being the ideal lady. With the war to end all wars exploding across the English Channel, she leaves behind her restrictive life as a chauffer’s daughter to serve in an all-female ambulance unit in France. She’s not about to let her social status or gender prevent her from serving her country. Not even a handsome captain can distract her from her mission. Most of the time.
Captain William Crawford wouldn’t wish the ravages of war on any man, much less the captivating woman who insists on driving into battle instead of staying safely at home. He can’t deny that the troops need more medical help, but not when it puts innocent women in danger. How can he lead his men against the Jerries while worrying about Gwyn’s safety?
Bound together by circumstances, Gwyn and William can’t stop the love growing between them. Can their relationship survive, or will it become another casualty of war?

The Auctioneers
by Florian Schneider

Genre: United States

When LA social worker Anabel Medina sees a heavily armed gunman open fire at a shopping mall in Malibu, she almost snickers at the cruelly ironic fact that, after everything she’s managed to survive throughout her violent childhood in El Salvador, she’s now about to die. Here. In Malibu.
Soon thereafter, while being interviewed on live TV — and asked how she was able to subdue the shooter with such unfazed bravery, as has been seen by millions on a viral video — Anabel demurs. She doesn’t want to talk about how she had spent her adolescence fleeing from marauding death squads in the Salvadoran hinterlands, and how a childhood in such constant close proximity to death begets a kind of callousness that’s difficult to grasp for people from the North. The hero worship fluff piece she’s expected to partake in comes entirely undone when Anabel — instead of giving some redundant play-by-play of the ordeal, or leaving it at yet another feckless argument for stricter gun control — opts to speak about the deeper reasons for the ceaseless stream of violence in, and from, America while giving an articulate assessment of a western system rife with corporate greed, extreme iniquity, perpetual wars, and smoldering rage.
Days later, Chris Heller, a disenchanted war photographer who’s visiting his hometown of Los Angeles, meets a woman by the name of Anabel who, as it turns out, has recently made waves in Malibu. Two damaged souls begin to bond and for the first time in god-knows-how-long, feel close to someone else.
When Anabel faces calls to use the platform she’s unwittingly achieved, Chris, afire with a newfound sense of purpose in her wake, encourages her to run for office as an independent candidate. What follows is an unrelenting media smear campaign against the former ‘Heroine of Malibu’ who, through her enormous popularity, rises to become a threat to the establishment.

Don’t Trust Me (Hamlet Book 1)
by Jessica Lynch
(2,262 Reviews)
Genre: Literature & Fiction

Who killed Jack Sullivan?
Welcome to Hamlet. Population: 192.
You can’t find it on any map, GPS, or directions site. A small village tucked between a mountain and a valley, Hamlet is the sort of place where everyone knows everyone — and their business, too. There’s no television. No internet. No phones. Only one way in and, for the locals, barely any way out. The sheriff is the law, the only doctor moonlights as the coroner, and outsiders hardly ever come to town.
Murders are even rarer.
A treacherous storm, a flat tire, and a touch of serendipity causes Tessa Sullivan and her husband Jack to stumble upon the narrow strait that leads into Hamlet. It was supposed to be a one night stop until the rain let up and Jack could figure out how to fix the tire — until Tess lands herself in the local jail cell overnight and Jack is found dead in their hotel room the next morning.
There’s no doubt it was murder, but with Sullivan’s gentle wife having an airtight alibi, the sheriff has to wonder: who had any cause to kill the outsider? And is he the only victim?
Dr. De Angelis doesn’t think so. Neither does Deputy Walsh. With Tess looking more and more like the killer’s next target, both men take the time to comfort and protect the young widow. But only one of them is sincere. The other just wants her to himself now that her husband is out of the way.
Alone and afraid, who can she trust?

Harrowing stories of Auschwitz, Pearl Harbor, and D-Day continue to live on, but this unbridled look at The Greatest Battles of World War II explores the lesser-known monstrosities unlike other World War II books.
WWII did more than just change the fate of world history — in just six years, every corner of the globe became involved in some of the most violent crimes against humanity to ever occur.
From the Battle of Stalingrad to the Battle of Midway, each of the World War 2 battles directly influenced the trajectory of the war and the world as we know it.
The strength of every country’s military, intelligence, and political powers were put to the test in a war that gruesomely claimed an estimated 60 million lives, including casualties.
Whether you have a great fascination for history, or you’re just looking to uncover new facts, The Greatest Battles of World War II paints a picture of the key battles of World War 2 and the impact of each on the course of the war and future of global affairs.
Despite the relatively short war, there are mountains of heinous yet hugely impactful events that took place — battles to war crimes alike.
You may already know about the evils of concentration camps and terrible murders of innocent people. Now, it’s time to take a look at what the history books may not have taught you.
